The term advertising refers to (but not limited to):

1. Print: Newspapers, Magazines, pamphlets, brochures, banners, hoarding boards, street signs, posters, stickers, calendars, etc. that are released or distributed in media, exhibitions, outside (streets), colleges or anywhere else.
2. Electronic Media: Television, Radio, FM, Cable TV, Scrolling advertisements, public announcements, CDs, DVDs etc.
3. Online Media: Website, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin etc.

Members Must:

1. Not use adjectives and superlatives such as No.1, Leader, Best, Largest, Oldest that is unauthorized and misleads the public.
2. MUST only release a clean advertisement which clearly mentions the information accurately.
3. Not use the IERIN logo other than mentioned and guided by the IERIN in terms of color, size proportion.
4. Not make changes in any ways the logo of IERIN in the form of color, size proportion.
5. Not promote any programmes that are not purely related to the education like (Aupair, cruise visas, transit visas, short trainings leading to the jobs).
6. Not promote any programmes which reflect to helping students to use the student visa as an entry to a better country via a least developed country through means of student visa.
7. Not use the word 'guarantee' such as visa guarantee, job guarantee, paid internship guarantee or any other guarantee. If advertising for internship (paid or unpaid), all details must be mentioned including name of institution, name of course, duration of internship and conditions applicable.
8. Not promote anything relevant to job assurance such as job search, employment arrangement, job club, 100% OJT, earn … per week (or per hour / per month) or any phrases that give similar meaning.
9. Not use words or phrases that are beyond the scope of expertise and are dependent upon others such as admission guarantee, job guarantee, visa within ….. days, offer letter/I20/admission in …. days, work within … days, 100% OJT, or any other misleading information in the advertisements violating the basic norms of the educational consultancy practices.
10.Not use words such as 100% visa success rate, 100% visa, pay only after visa, no visa no fee, fee refund if visa rejected or any other words that give similar meaning directly or indirectly.
11. Not promote any programs related to business, travel, tourist, dependent, migration, work, but advertise only academic programs of abroad colleges, universities and institutions.
12. Not quote any fees for services provided by the consultancy and/ or the foreign institutions. For example study IELTS at Rs. 3,000 or study in Australia in only 5 lakhs or AUD 8,000. Members may however quote the exact fees along with the course name and CRICOS code if they so desire.
13. Not even quote 'FREE' offer such as FREE IELTS, FREE test preparation, FREE processing, FREE visa etc in the advertisements, but can advertise FREE SEMINAR/ ASSESSMENT.
14. Not use offers to attract students such as air tickets, travelers' cheque, laptop, mobile phones, sim card, unlimited offers to first … students, special offers to those who come in groups, T-shirt, shoes etc granted to students, or any such offers.
15. Not use the logo of any program and/ or foreign associations for which the consultancy does not have direct membership, and in case the consultancy does, it must mention the membership number while using logo and seek permission in writing from such association to use their logos in Nepal.
16. IERIN members must show the name of their affiliated company (if any) on their marketing /promotional material.
17. IERIN member while showing name of the Universities in Marketing and promotions must provide details of their affiliated Company in case they themselves do not represent any such Universities.
18. Not mislead the public by advertising the post of an association or branch office in any country so as to help them with visa processing or any other services.
19. Office bearers of associations shall not promote their own business while attending seminars, giving interviews to media etc. on behalf of their associations. They shall also not display their post (present or past) on their company business cards (or letterhead, brochures, website etc.)
20. Not use the word 'documentation' or ‘one-stop solution’ in any form.
21. When a member is organising an exhibition, members shall only advertise the names of institutions taking part in the exhibition rather than putting the names of a long list of institutions. Also the exhibitor should not have stalls of those institutions that are not attending unless they have prior approval from the institution concerned.
22. Not display the name of college/ institute/ university at the expo if the consultancy has no agreement with them (& not participating as well).
23. When taking part in exhibitions organised by Associations, members are allowed to provide promotional offers during the expo. What is allowed shall be decided by the Association itself and members need to seek prior approval for any discounts/prizes/ incentives etc. they intend to offer.
24. Not advertise courses saying they lead to Permanent Residency or migration.
25. Include provider CRICOS code while promoting an Australian institution.

IERIN members should provide accurate information to prospective students who want to go abroad for further studies.

1. IERIN members should provide updated and relevant information of universities and colleges represented by them and in no circumstances should misguide students on academic requirements, living costs, part time jobs etc.
2. IERIN members should not state that it is mandatory for a student to use a representative's services.
3. IERIN members should not charge more than USD 5,00 (USD Five hundred only) for their services.
4. IERIN members should refrain from using advertisements that are misleading, open to misinterpretation and in any way that does not comply with the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS Act). IERIN members should fully comply with the IERIN Code of Conduct for Advertisement.
5. IERIN members are not allowed to change agent for students already with an offer from another IERIN member, unless they have approval in writing from the first agent.
6. IERIN members should neither be involved nor entertain any documents that might be seen as non genuine by the COUNTRY’S IMMIGRATION or any other body.
7. IERIN members will serve with honesty and integrity and have an obligation both towards the partner university / institution and the client/ student.
8. IERIN members must be competent, well informed and reputable; and act in the best interest of the applicant and the institution.
9. IERIN member can only advise students for Higher education to study abroad, and guide them for visa documents. They should not be involved in Migration advice.
10. IERIN member should not themselves get involved in preparation of visa documents as it should be the responsibility of the student/parent.
11. IERIN member should not advise / refer any particular financial institution to their students for Education Loan.
12. IERIN member are not allowed / should not provide students any discount on their own (out of commission), provide students air tickets, lap tops etc.
13. IERIN members are not allowed to hold passport, citizenship, original certificates or any form of cash deposit of students. However they are allowed to charge a fee for their services. For example when providing IELTS preparation classes or when applying to the foreign institution.
14. IERIN member should not entertain dependant applicants, incase the student appears doubtful of his/her marriage

Becoming a IERIN members means adding value to your business. IERIN members are selected group of high profile agents in Nepal working in education consulting industry for more than 5 years.
IERIN conducts yearly evaluations of its members and they must renew their memberships annually by fulfilling the membership criteria.
In order to become a member of IERIN, please download the member form from the IERIN website, fill up the form and send it to along with the following documents:

Company Registration Certificate
Tax registration paper/Tax clearance certificate
Institution representation certificates (At least 4 from any country).
Company profile.
Company approval minute to become the member of IERIN.
Company Article of Association.

1. Each member has to annually renew the membership of IERIN.
2. Each year, the member will be annually audited by the executives to check the quality of member’s practices and if the members fulfill the membership criteria each year set by IERIN.
3. Any change of the members such as location, directors and share holders should be immediately informed to the IERIN office.
4. Members advertisements quality will be checked and advised if necessary of any amendments.
5. Any misleading advertisements if found will be followed by the clarification letter from IERIN. If the clarification is not satisfactory, it may lead to the suspension or termination of the membership.
6. Any serious complains made by the students or guardians against the members will be checked and verified by IERIN. If any such misleading or cheating is proved, the membership will be terminated and the notice will be made public in the local newspapers.

The eligibility of the consultancy will be judged by the existing executive board members and the membership confirmation will be decided by the 70% of the IERN members and executive board members. In order to be an eligible member of IERIN an educational consultancy should meet the following criteria.

1. Must be actively involved in the consultancy field for 5 years or more.
2. Must be a recognized and ethical educational consultant in Nepal that has a good image in the industry.
3. Must not be involved in any criminal and dishonest activities.
4. Must represent at least 4 universities or government colleges or private colleges from abroad for at least 2 years.
5. Must have standard setup venue of at least 4 rooms.
6. Must have well setup classrooms, labs and libraries.
7. Must have at least three staff – one counselor, one front desk staff and one senior manager. Counselors having international agent certifications like QEAC, NZIER, ICEF are highly recommended.
8. Must not be engaged in giving out misleading and unethical advertisements.
9. Must get reference from two existing members.
10. Directors, share holders must not be active members of any political organizations.

1. Provisional Membership
Provisional membership is granted to those who meets all criteria but has not become 2 years working in the industry.

2. Full membership
Full membership is provided to those who meets all the membership criteria.

Membership of the existing members may be suspended or terminated if the members are found:

1. Making unethical practices like cheating students and providing false information to students.
2. Violating IERIN Code of Conduct for ethical practices.
3. Violating IERIN Code of Conduct for advertisements.
4. Not renewing the IERIN membership on time and crossing the deadlines.
5. To be passive for a long time or shut down office or not recruiting students for abroad studies.

1. IERIN members are group of selected ethical minded people working in the education consulting profession for many years.
2. Most of the IERIN members counselors have international agent certification like QEAC , ICEF, NZIER) counselors which improves the quality of the counselors in advising the students for studying abroad.
3. IERIN members have appropriate offices with required facilities and environment to deal and provide services to students.
4. IERIN members strictly checks the quality of applications and before any application is forwarded.
5. IERIN members checks the academic and financial capacity of the student before any application is processed.
6. Regular trainings , interaction and workshops are provided to IERIN members.
7. IERIN audits each members quality of work every year, provides training and support to its members to ensure and maintain the quality of the IERIN members.
